Moose Light Blackberry

Saint John N.B. – Moosehead Breweries Limited will introduce a new flavoured light beer – Moose Light Blackberry – just in time for summer.
Just one year after Moosehead launched its hugely successful light-lime brew, the company is leading the way once again by introducing a blackberry-flavoured light lager.
“No other major brewery in Canada is producing a blackberry beer,” says Ray Gracewood, Moosehead Breweries Marketing Director for the Maritimes. “As a small company competing with the biggest breweries in the world, we’ve got to be innovative and ahead of our time if we want continued success.”
The introduction of Moose Light Lime last summer was the most successful product launch for Moosehead in 25 years. Moose Light Lime is the best-selling lime beer in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, out-selling the lime offerings from its major, multi-national competitors. The development of a new beer usually takes about six months to a year, but Moosehead Light Blackberry was developed in a significantly shorter period to take advantage of the peak summer beer-selling season. Gracewood noted that consumers can follow the process used to develop Moose Light Blackberry, its packaging, and other aspects of the brand through a special website: www.moosecalls.ca
“Our overwhelming success with Moose Light Lime has proven there is a growing market for flavoured beer. We saw an opportunity, and we went for it,” said Gracewood.  “We know we have to be nimble if we want to build on the momentum of Moose Light Lime and capitalize on the busy summer beer season.”

The company considered several flavour options for its new beer, and blackberry was by far the clear choice. Moose Light Blackberry will be available June 26.
“Moose Light Blackberry combines the crisp, clean taste of Moosehead Light with a touch of 100 per cent natural blackberry flavour. It’s a refreshing and great-tasting beer, especially on a hot Maritime summer day,” said Gracewood.
Moosehead, one of Canada’s most celebrated brewers, traces its roots to 1867 and today is the only Canadian-owned major brewery. The Saint John-based company is owned and managed by New Brunswick’s Oland family, whose members represent the fifth and sixth generation to operate the business. Moosehead sells its beer throughout Canada, the United States, and 15 other countries around the world.
