Q: Does Moosehead offer brewery tours?

A: Unfortunately, due to safety and security concerns, we no longer conduct tours of our plant. Also, we do have an on-site and on-line retail store where you can purchase Moosehead memorabilia. Please visit www.MooseheadCountryStore.com

Q: Who owns Moosehead Breweries?

A: Moosehead is Canada’s oldest independent brewery. We trace our roots back to 1867, when Susannah Oland first started brewing in her Dartmouth, Nova Scotia back yard. Today, the company is still owned and operated by the Oland family. For a historical timeline on the Oland family and Moosehead history, visit the History section of this web site.

Q: Why aren’t other Moosehead brands available where I live?

A: Our other brands are not as widely distributed as our flagship brand, Moosehead Lager. Some are aimed at niche markets only.

Q: What is the carbohydrate and calorie content of Moosehead Brewery beers?

A: We brew four different types of beer. The approximate carbohydrate and calorie content for each (based on a 341 mL/12 oz serving) is:

Lager – 10.8 g Carbohydrate – 140.9 Calories

Dry – 11.6 g Carbohydrate – 152.8 Calories

Ale – 10.2 g Carbohydrate – 134.9 Calories

Light – 8.73 g Carbohydrate – 115.3 Calories

Q: Does Moosehead do Contract Brewing?

A: Moosehead has more than 20 years experience in the contract brewing business. We contract brew a number of brands for sale and distribution in Canada and throughout the USA.

Our production capabilities include returnable and non-returnable bottles from 12 oz. up to 24oz in 6, 8, 12, 16 and 24 pack cartons. We produce various can sizes from 12 oz. up to 16oz as well as various packaging configurations, such as 6, 8, 12, 15, 16 and 24. We also contract brew in 50L kegs.
